Really lovin' Father John Misty's new single, baby

I've fallen hard for Joshua Tillman's stage persona. However true to life, Father John Misty is absurd, surreal, and a bit of an iconoclast for the modern performer. I understand why his fans are slavishly devoted to him and his sound: it's refreshing, standout, and subversively addicting. Oft I find myself putting on his last record and letting the music pull me away from the moment.

That's no different with his newest single, Real Love Baby. It's been on repeat for the past week and there will never be enough. The track features a rich bass line and beautiful medley of accompanying instrumentals. Hitting on familiar themes of love and desire, this song is feel-good, anthemic, summery, and inspires optimism for finding the flower to your bee. Sadly, this release doesn't seem to herald a forthcoming album nor will it appear on the next LP.

Also, I am a big fan of the pointillist cover art.
